With Francesc Fabregas being linked with a move to Real Madrid, right-back Sergio Ramos was asked for his thoughts on the young midfielder.
"He's a great footballer, and a leader and key player for Arsenal," said the 21 year old.
"He's one of the few Spaniards who's succeeded abroad in such a competitive league as the English one."
"I'm pleased with that effort as it will be engraved in the memory of all Spanish fans for some time to come," he recalled of the team effort that put Spain 2-0 up.
"It was an important game overall and with the vital three points, we've taken a major step.
"And we're pleased to have the support of the fans, who have endured plenty of disappointment since we lost out to France at the World Cup in Germany.
"That's why we've been asking them to trust us over the lsat few days: we're confident that, once again, we've regained their confidence."
